Sowohl auf YFM ( http://www.yfm.co.za ) als auch in den Zeitungen wird heute vom gestern in Johannesburg begangenen „Toilettentag“ berichtet

On Monday, it became the first South African municipality to celebrate International Toilet Day
.
To commemorate the event, bars of soap were handed out to people using the city centre's public conveniences

Facilities Management Unit manager Gasant Dunn said their aim was to encourage residents to use free public loos
and to use them properly 
, and to observe proper hygiene after using them 
.
The city recently refurbished 90 toilets, which now have permanent cleaners, soap dispensers, downlights and hand dryers.
Another 14 were constructed and five more were planned for downtown Johannesburg next year.
Dunn - who recently attended the World Toilet Summit in India - said the city was to embark on a campaign in schools to educate children in using toilets
.
It also would increase the number of loos in informal settlements and along the 2010 World Cup routes.

P.S.: Ich mache mich wohlgemerkt nicht um die beschriebenen Bemühungen der Stadt Johannesburg lustig. Ich fand nur den Ausdruck "International Toilet Day" so spaßig.
